The house of cards falling fast. If my notes serve me right, Norway awarded 4 licenses back in late 2000 via beauty contest. I got down something like $3 per pop cost. Unlike UK and Germany, Norway's 3G cost is mainly building out the network, vs that ridiculous tax. So is it true that these beauty contest winners can walk at little or no penalty? Another country with beauty contest carriers is Finland. One of the winners, Sonera, has already made the decision to dump plans in Germany. Will they hang in Finland and waste money on a market with 5.2 million people? Even though I am a believer that wcdma will fail in its present form, I can't say I expect the speed that it is failing.
