IMO this attempt at focussing people's attention on Iraq is nothing more than a cheap ploy by the government to take people's minds off the evolving financial crisis, and I truly resent the insult to my intelligence.

Therefore, I wouldn't waste much time trying to develop any theories or conspiracies as to who might truly be behind a war initiative, because there actually is no war initiative beyond what I've just described --- it's just government marketing aimed at getting and then keeping our minds occupied elsewhere.

When one is attempting to steer the cattle into the right pens, one needn't bother sharing one's objectives with the cattle. The truth about Iraq is not only absent here, it's not even a consideration. It wasn't with Nixon, and it isn't now
