ajtj, as I see it, there are two main problems with trying to get a discussion on TA going on IHUB.

[1] Of the few folks over there who could (presumably) discuss TA on your level, most are just typical traders. You know, selfish jerks. <g/ng>

IMHO, mlsoft knows his stuff and contributes well, LG obviously knows his chit, anon's fractals are fascinating, (unfortunately, he doesn't spend much time online). Other than those few, plus a handful of us SI retreads, all the real traders over there just want to piggyback on Zeev's entry and exit calls and have no interest in contributing anything to anyone except themselves.

[2] The folks over there who are -- or would be -- interested in discussing TA don't know enough -- or at least don't think they know enough -- to contribute, so they sit silent. I call this the intimidation factor.

Most folks tend to lurk for a good while before contributing -- especially on a TA related board. First, they have to get over the brainwashing that Da Boyz have laid on them for decades and accept TA as something other than voodoo. Then they have to get up the nerve to put themselves on the line, so to speak. (I know this because I'm not really all that far beyond that point myself yet.)

Part of the problem in this regard is you. Sure, you think of yourself as a mild-mannered father of "two intense little dudes," (I think that was how you put it one time), but to somebody who has been lurking on the Steve Lee thread for a year or two, you are one of "those experts" who really knows about this stuff.

You "speak" TA, Candlesticks, and even E-Waves, {OOH SPOOKY!}, and you even trade options -- which is a terrifying concept to the average "investor" raised on LTBH. It makes you sort of like one of those profs from college who teach theoretical math, "dabble" in economics, and read the classics, (in the original Greek), for "fun."

So, you shouldn't really be surprised that these folks are afraid to "raise their hands" and try to add to the discussion. But just because they are afraid to get into the discussion doesn't mean your presence is/was not felt. When Justa said, Looks like you had a pleasant experience and made some new friends, I think he was only kidding insofar as the "pleasant experience" component. Here is one snippet:

I have been a lurker on the Turnip's message Boards on the SI thread for several years now and have always found your astute observations a very refreshing and moderating influence to the commonly expressed and prevailing mass opinion on the thread. I think your opinions rank way up there with those of Zeeve's & a handful of others on this thread, and it is not that easily replacable. Please reconsider your decision, but if you must, please let us all know where you'd be posting next.
Best and hoping that you'd continue to be here!
