You ignore the fact that when polled the press admits they are liberal...

Well, then, mainstream is liberal.

When you poll the press on the political positions they hold or the candidates they voted for, you get a different, and a lot more liberal result then when you poll the population in general.

Tim, if mainstream America found the press offensive, they would not watch or read it. They would watch Fox or read the National Review. I know its a leap of faith but I suspect that the fact that they do watch these programs indicates they pretty much accept whatever the bias you and others think the programs have......it may not reflect their views exactly but its close enough.

And frankly, when I listen to people like Limbaugh or Buchanan or Coulter, many of the things they harp on I find either unimportant, or their view so 'off', that I can't listen to them. For an example, Tom Brokaw provides a viewpoint for me that reflects my life and the experiences I have had to date. P. Buchanan's rant reminds me of the old guy on my street who was forever screaming at us kids to keep quiet. So its not surprising that I feel more comfortable with Brokaw. Its possible that mainstream America reacts in a similar way as I.
