Intent and motive are not the same thing. Why one did it incidental to the question of whether or not one meant to do it. That is why I suggested the category "nuts but guilty", for those whose motivation was clearly mentally disturbed, but who knew well enough what they were doing to held liable. I do not think that justice is whatever we say it is, and, in any case, in this society, the notion of justice is intimately tied to the notion of responsibility, which requires intent......By the way, sorry to be off yesterday, I needed some extra sleep and pampering, for aching muscles and bad sinuses......
