Hello yet again Jay. Until there is some serious intent to really move the political framework, as with Germany and Japan after world class horrors, which set the stage and removed opposition, there won't be any improvement, as you say.
Afghanistan is back to the horror story of decades length and Osama was right - Americans fiddled around a bit, lost interest and moved on after a couple of skirmishes and capture of an American, Australian and some Guantanamo Bay non-humans. Afghanistan hasn't been dealt with in any way to make a permanent improvement. The Moslem Mullahs and Warlords are back in the saddle. I suppose a similar outcome in Iraq will result.
George II isn't up to what was really needed. A real crusade was needed to defeat the horrors of Allah and jihad, fatwah, repression, cruelty and superstition.
Actually, fundamental conflicts CAN be resolved by force in a sustainable manner. Germans wanted to exterminate Jews [and a lot more besides] - yes, yes, I know we are supposed to say it was just that naughty man Hitler, but he was voted into power and it takes a lot of people to herd millions to death and fight huge wars. That was stopped by force in a sustainable manner. Force and sexual selection has made us what we are and we are very sustainable.
Force does have its place - unfortunately, a very large place at present.
