Mike M, what has that guy in Iraq ever done to you?

FWIW, did you know US satellites and military personnel were assisting Iraq when they gassed the Iranian army (including 13-year olds on the front line) in the early 80's? Do you know that most of the people the US is considering for replacing Saddam are guilty of war crimes and could be tried in an international court of law?

The US needs a boogeyman to keep everyone's minds off the real misery ahead. It's pretty pathetic that our government has to result to tactics that are normally reserved for use by 3rd world countries to brainwash it's populace.

Most people who understand that region know that Saddam provides stability. To replace him would throw the whole region into chaos. Shittes would fight for control of Iraq, Kurds would want an independent state and would provoke a response by Turkey. The result could likely be a civil war that engulfs (no pun intended) the entire region and brings more radicalization and anti-US feelings.

Being in the military, I can anticipate your response as being "nuke em."

That's what I hear a lot. I find it often typical that people who's cultures we don't understand (read non-western) are viewed by many here as sub-human and not entitled to live on this planet.

Nuke Africa, Nuke Asia, nuke everything except the US, Europe, and Japan. That would make everything beautiful again, I guess.
