I had coffee with the AF guy today and asked some questions about Agent Orange. He said the test had found lows of zero ppt to highs of 746 ppt. He started at 19 ppt and is down to 13 ppt and they don't think it will get any lower. It's stored in the liver and in fat.

AO has been positively connected to a type of acne/rash that comes and goes. It's been hinted at as a factor in type II diabetes but not proven. Of course everything except eating lettuce causes type II diabetes.

Now the interesting part. On his base they went through 24,000 gallons a day. Fixed the planes and the spray nozzles and generally swam in the stuff. It dripped and splashed on them and they lived with the fumes. OTOH the ground troops would go into an area that had been sprayed 10-12 days after the spraying and stay from 15 minutes to 10 hours. There has been 326,000 claims of AO poisoning filed but not a one has been filed by anyone from the base where the lived with it 24/7 for a year at a time.

Now this is just his speculation and he does say it's a guess. He believes that most of the health problems from Vietnam can from the rampant drug use that went on.
