A lot of hate is being directed toward Muslims and IMO, I suspect, unjustly so.
I have seen few accounts of what I would call 'hate', but many of suspicion, most of which is surely unjustified. It can't be easy to be under this suspicion, merely for having a Mideastern identity. But I have also seen many politicians keep saying 'this is not about Islam', and churches and synagogues reach out to local mosques for inter-faith events. The reaction has been very tolerant considering the events of Sept 11th.
Just imagine if such events had happened in an Arab country. Actually, you don't have to imagine, recall when the Islamic Brotherhood killed 60 tourists a few years back. The Egyptian government responded with mass arrests and executions. Who knows what the popular reaction would have been if an identifiable minority like the Coptic Christians had done such a thing?
I believe it's piling on to add to the hate with posts about whacko teenagers
Unfortunately, I don't believe the teenagers are "whacko", I think they are reflecting lines of thinking that are very popular in the Arab world, and which are being actively preached here as well. It's not as if talk - or action - like this happens only here, or only in this one instance. Like I said, those are REAL snuff videos those kids are watching.
but I support your right to post such things, and I believe I have a right to say I disagree.
For sure. |
