9:35 (Dow Jones) Merrill Lynch analyst Brett Hodess says Applied Materials' (AMAT) order growth in its fiscal 3Q, which the company will report next week, may come in higher than his expectation of 15% growth. "Most of the other large caps that have reported have seen strong sequential order growth in the June quarter," says Hodess. "We believe Applied has the potential to see 20% order growth in the quarter, putting orders just over $2 billion." Still, in terms of AMAT's order guidance for the 4Q, Hodess expects the company to say orders will be down at least 10% and possibly 20%. AMAT off 2.4% early at $13.23. (DLF)
