WMT theory. Sales 'only' increased 4%ish instead of 5%ish. Earnings will still increase per press release.

Financial Terrorists jerk around bemoaning the 1% shortfall.

I look at the calendar and think about this new trend toward some States having a Sales Tax Free weekend for Back to School shopping. Covering anything that could loosely be defined as a school expense. Backpacks, to coolers, to clothes, to pens, to crayons, locker supplies, just about anything. Even some stuff that I can't figure out how it applies to school.

Guess when both NC and SC had their tax free weekend? AUGUST 2,3,4. Area stores did record sales.

Purchases were more than likely DELAYED in July, and pushed into the August weekend.

That could also have affected retailers like KSS mainly clothing, and BBY since computer stuff was tax free.

Does anybody know if such Tax Free programs occurred in other states?
