When I was young, I had a great need to buy books. Now, I still have a great need to read books, and there are many I need around me, but I am much more willing to read library books rather than buying.

In part, a result of the obligation that the bookshelves I build now have to meet the approval of my wife, and be attractive in their own right, whereas when I was young a few cinderblocks and raw boards from the hardware store would suffice to expand book shelving.
