I tend to drag books around with me, where ever I am going, so I do worry about losing them. And the library is totally on the other side of our town, I never go over there. So it is just easier and less stressful for me to buy the books, read them, and then donate them to the library. I always have movies to return, if I had to remember to return books too, I think it would be too much for me. And because we own so many books, if my kids "help" me and shelve a library book, I may never find it again.

I did what your wife did, and took at least 70% of our bookcases for children's books. But that meant I had to stack quite a few of my books that are not children's books on top of the computer armoire, and on top of the entertainment center, and out in the garage.
