Asset-backeds-Busiest supply session since late May

NEW YORK, Aug 8 (Reuters) - The U.S. asset-backed
securities market on Thursday enjoyed its busiest one-day
session since late May, with about $5 billion of new supply
priced, suggesting some demand returning to the sector recently
shaken by worries over weakening consumer credit quality.
On May 30, over $5.1 billion of asset-backeds were sold.
This rebound in investor confidence meant that corporations
could count on the asset-backed market as a cheap source of
capital, as investors remained wary in buying corporate bonds
amid concerns over poor earnings and accounting scandal.
"We were pleased with how the deal went," said a
spokeswoman for AmeriCredit Corp. (NYSE:ACF - News), which priced a $1.3
billion car loan securitization on Thursday."
