How come no one complained about expensing options during the bull market ? I think granting rank and file employees stock options was the source of silicon valley's prosperity. I think expensing options would drastically reduce the option grants to employees and a source of the valley's uniqueness. High tech is the only industry in which the US leads the world. In our eagerness to punish others for investors own greed (No one told people to buy YHOO at 400 or Enron without looking at balance sheets) let us not choke of the innovation in high tech and thus kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
