School started here yesterday.

- no kidding. the kids here don't know
how lucky they are. they don't go back
till after labour day.

things are slow here as well. the province
is not faring well - a lot of it has to do
with the softwood lumber dispute, but also
fishing. british columbia is a resource
based province so we haven't been hurt by
the tech melt down as much as other provinces.

the advertising business is slow too, but it
usually is in the summer.

real estate is still very expensive in
vancouver - but i think that's because we've
got the pacific to our west, a mountain range
to the north and west and the u.s. directly
south. the only way to grow is west through
the valley and that route is congested as all
get out.

by in large though, most people are optimistic
still. the problem is, of course, that our
economy is so closely linked with that of the
u.s. that what befalls you, will hit us as well.

c'est la guerre
