rails99,
Holy liquidity traps railman:

If one were to subtract the interest due or past due to the IMF, what amount actually goes into Brazil treasury for development?

One thing a lot of J6P folks don't know is this syndrome has been going on down in S America for a long long time.

Brits used to do the same thing way back in the 1800's, loan default reloan pay interest default reloan pay interest default etc. All the while, huge sums raised for
"development" of S American countries in various schemes
in the 1800's British markets and only minute percentages of the money ever ended up there in SA. Quite a neverending flow of interest for the promoters and banks, though I guess it never made it to the full amount on their Scroogian spreadsheets.

Seems that all the gold and silver pillaged from S America didn't end up doing Spain any good either, farther back.

Must be Montezuma's Revenge!

Best,
Roebear
