And lots of things originally conceived for bad reasons have proven to be good in changed circumstances. I was not arguing for or against vouchers. I was making a very specific and narrow point directed at an article that OMD posted. What lovely moral company the NAACP and the teachers' unions now keep.>> The article was referring to the ignoble, bigoted genesis of the Blaine amendment. I was simply pointing out that there was also an ignoble, bigoted genesis on the other side, which the author or the article neglected to note. I was simply struck by the irony and by the selective use of history by the author to cast the opponent in an unfavorable light. Mine was a very narrow point, which, like the author's, had nothing to do with the merits of vouchers.
