9:10AM: S&P futures vs fair value: -9.0. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: -13.0. We continue to look at a solidly negative tone to the pre-market activity. Despite the negative sentiment in the storage sector this morning, Merrill Lynch is out with a favorable call in another pocket of the computer hardware space. The firm says recent checks indicate Dell Computer (DELL) continues to defy the harsh reality of the current end-user demand environment, and expects its Q3 sequential outlook to be up 5% with EPS of $0.21, or a penny above consensus.
