purchasing stock means buying ownership in a company<< what a revelation!
this means more than the short term price movement<< how so?

For one, I follow both fundamentals and technicals, so I'm hesitant to buy some overbloated stock just because it's hyped up. Unfortunately, that means I missed on the whole up and down move of CSCO for example.
Second, my "ownership" in the company whether it was for an hour (daytrade) or for 3 years (long term hold) never gave me anything meaningful - other than price movement. Unlike real estate or perhaps gold, which I can buy, use and sell. I can't do much with the stock I purchase, other than what some have done with WCOM certificates - using them as wallpaper or tissue paper.
Third, you're entitled to your opinion of Dudash/HAL. I didn't mention HAL.
