You are probably right that it will flow to gold. I don't know where else it can go. Even if we get a deflationary spiral, the money has to go somewhere and I would think it goes to an asset that always has and always will have value.

When the stock decline is over, no one will want to be in stocks. I think real estate is starting to flatten. I still think bonds will continue to rise in value. I am seeing people starting to move money out of equity options of their 401(k)s and into bond funds. I think the yield on the 10 year will drop below 4% in the next 6 months unless we get massive foreign liquidation which would probably have to be triggered by a rogue wave event (ie. dirty nuke). My gut feeling is smart money is quietly moving out of bonds as we speak and accumulating gold, they will probably continue to do so while gold is in the 300-315 range.
Once bonds go, real estate goes with it and then gold should rise.
As the smart money unloads gold at much higher prices to the sheep they can start buying real estate and stocks for .50 on the dollar and the game can start again.
