In meteorological school, the Reeds model was in use for weather forecasting. I figured I better learn computers so I learned Fortran there. Then at Offutt AFB, I leared FAP, MAP and then was sent to DC to learn the real-time communications programming... I worked in compiler level, assembly level and also did some actual machine language work. The neatest thing was to run the computers from their maintenance panels - you could do all sorts of stuff with the utilities buried on the drums.

After I left the USAF, I went to work for Univac and worked my way up to Systems Manager in the Federal Govt Marketing Division of that company. So with all that training and then working with the State of Maryland, I must know a dozen or so computer control languages including SAS, JCL, BASIC, and FORTH (that is a WONDERFUL language... but nobody but geeks like me knows it!)

And I have learned Visual Basic and written a few programs in it... I have the manual staring at me on top of my screen.
