If we do invade the chances of a small mess are large in fact almost certain. We also might have to deal with a large mess.

If we don't invade we might avoid any serious mess, but we also might face an agressive Iraq, led by Saddam, with nukes, which could be a bigger mess then any reasonably likely result of our attacking Iraq.
