Cary,

One of the things mentioned by the analyst was that INTC may increasingly outsource front-end services through the next cycle. Do you believe this is even possible? One of INTC's greatest strengths has been the ability to weather downturns and then be there with the necessary capacity once the upturn finally arrives. By employing this strategy, they could be leaving the door open for competitors. I was very surprised to read the analyst even mention this as a possibility, since one of INTC's greatest strengths throughout the years has been their singular ability to meet voracious demand as the market turned, though it must be mentioned that even they had difficulties at times.

I have more of a distrust than ever of analysts and am not quite sure how much of this is genuine prognostication and how much is thrown out to "shake the tree" and get more individuals to sell at lower prices. I am not saying that is the case here, but this is the first time I have ever heard this even mentioned as a possibility.
