The numbers may not be that far off. The April article you referenced refers to an estimated $23.3B for 2001 while my figure published in July uses an actual figure of $21.4B.

These numbers (for WFE) are the best for comparison as they are for fab equipment only not total capex. My 2002 numbers are of course estimates at this point but it does seem that AMAT is losing market share which is a significant change from the previous year.
