No. I don't buy it for a second.

Company insiders don't keep their shares in margin accounts.

If Saxe wanted more shares, he could have just issued himself more options over the course of the last fifteen years or so.

Margin clerks don't give heads-ups that they're about to hit the sell button. The lining up of those $10 bids seemed a lot like someone knew exactly when the sale would happen.

Saxe didn't get a margin call last September when REFR broke below $10. Why would he get one above $10 in July?

The only visible sources for the margin call story are the Internet message boards. When did they become even remotely reliable sources?

And finally there's that little matter of the PR released the day of the sale. Although that would be suspicious whether the sale was margin-induced or not.

All in all, a pretty damn suspicious-looking stunt. Hope that little "write to the SEC" campaign doesn't backfire...
