| That goes back nicely to that responsibility argument we were having. Even if you are a cause, and are therefore "responsible" it does not follow that your responsibility makes you culpable in any way. If JLA is being JLA, that should be his prerogative. And if Neocon needs a break, that is his choice. Adults, making free choices, based on their own internal states, coupled with what they can take in from this environment, is what this place is all about. Of course that is just one opinion. Clearly other people see this place as a tool for becoming group organisms, and they enjoy working in concert. That doesn't particularly appeal to me. But I can understand how it appeals to other people, who like to be part of something bigger than themselves. What we have here, is probably a thought divide between individualists, and groupists. Individualists have trouble understanding why anyone would give up any autonomy to be part fo a group, and groupists don't understand why individualists value their autonomy above people who "should" be part of their group. It is probably a lot like the religious debates- in that I'm sure there is no real answer- it is simply a matter of taste. |
