Let's talk about timing....

Since Bush isn't doing anything that is real helpful to the economy, I think that we won't see any meaningful recovery during his term. Thinking one more year of general downtrend followed by some flatline for a couple of years. That means that he has to time a war with Iraq to benefit his next election, so now is too soon. He needs to talk tough for another full year before we go to war so that we have six months to complete the job and gives him a full year to bask in the glory of the victory.

BUT

Assuming that we can make a strong case for going after Iraq and that the democrats recognize the threat from Saddam, they won't want to wait a full year so as to give Bush the upper hand in the next election. I predict that it will be the dems who push for earlier action so that we have time to go in and get busy and then the general public has time to forget about it, therefore eliminating any benefit that would go to the current administration.

How's that for thinking like a politician?
