Yaacov, the USA is a great, generous, powerful and, compared to others, still a very free country (even though it seems soon it will be illegal to smoke tobacco in NYC). The country just went through a long period of peace, prosperity, tolerance, everyone was a friend. Such a social mood takes a long time to develop, and it may take a long time to unravel. We hope that it will not have to unravel, but time will show. In the meantime, everyone is free to pray to his God and to speak his piece, even if there are people who may not like it.
Again, we hope it stays this way. But, historically, liberal democracies – when they are pushed to an extreme – can become absolutely devastating. Israel is also a good example. Totalitarian – minded enemies should better not forget that. |
