Brazil has been that way since Brazilia was built. Always near meltdown. Remember that building the new capital was a government project.

I have spent a fair amount of time in Brazil over the years. The people are great!. They got screwed by a fiscally out of control federal goverment and have paid the price for decades.

Before the real there was cruzero and cruzado.

In fact i one trip there just after presidential election. New pres new economic reform package, just more of the same.

Anyway the new reform began before new currency was printed. To covert cruzero to cruzado you struck off the last three zeros. Yup, a 1,000 paper currency was now worth 1.

They are a strong hard working fun loving people, like us.

Pray that we never have to strike off three zeros.

Mike
