Light in or light out, there is a change. light in to metal, electron is lost, photon replaces it? light out, we presume electron is photon. But electron has mass, photon mass is very low, if at all. If you could do one electron for each photon, you could do away with atomic energy as you would only need the sun for energy. Some hydrogen cells show promise of being able to improve photoelectric effect energy efficiency. If they were heated/cooled or a current run through them, it might improve their efficiency. I wonder how superconductors work as photocells?

It is hard to imagine how an iron plate with doped silicon dioxide backing could be exceeded in simplicity for generating electricity, but engineers tell us that the cost is higher than other systems. It would seem that the Dutch Windmills are laughing at us. It is tough to beat natural sources for cost of fuel.
