Hmmm ..... thought you were reading the philly papers these days ...
Thomas hurts because they took a calculated gamble and didn't address DT; opted to believe in his recovery. Now, DT is about the only hole the defense has. Public keeps clamoring for Sam Adams but ain't happening. I do think they'll pick up someone later when cuts are made for some depth.
First exhibition, meaningless game, hard to tell anything ... neither offense nor defense looked sharp but both looked ok.
Offensively, Levens looked in great shape, Westbrook showed flashes that he's the real deal; with a healthy Duce looks as if that HB position won't be a weakness any longer. Blocking back from Temple, McKie, yes, Aaron's nephew, got lots of pt and looked good .... he luvs to block ... something going on at this position. Reid's been bad mouthing Cecil Martin and he doesn't usually talk down individuals in the press.
Defensively, far too many penalties, Gardner and Kirkland both played well .... Kirkland's still #2 for now.
Of the young guys, Brown and Smith both showed they love to hit, mostly on special teams. Sheppard was MIA all night .... Westbrook fielded all punts and did quite well. Although he's a Hall of Famer, if they need to pinch any pennies, looks like B. Mitchell could be expendable .... but Reid likes him for his influence as much as his special teams play.
All in all, just an exhibition .... to give you an idea, the best looking QB all night probably was Koy Detmer ... lol .... that tells ya all ya need to know.
