At the risk of getting banned from this august forum, I'll disagree.

Although I once agreed with your views on Uncle Al, I've changed my mind. He was clearly asleep at the switch when he allowed the stock market mania to take hold. He should have punctured the bubble a lot earlier with timely increases in interest rates. Moreover, he should have also jawboned a lot harder. Mealy-mouthed, diluted sobriquets like "irrational exhuberance" were inadequate. We needed him to act like Charles Atlas, not the 90 lb. weakling.

If Uncle Al had performed his job properly earlier on, the horrific correction we've suffered would not have been nearly as severe.

OK, ban me. I'll consider it an honor.
