Hop-On Granted ESN Numbers for Disposable Cell Phones
58% of Those Polled Would Purchase a Disposable Cell Phone
GARDEN GROVE, Calif., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hop-On (OTC: HPON - News), the leading developer of disposable and fully recyclable cell phones, today announced that it was granted its Electronic Serial Numbers (ESNs). An ESN is a unique serial number programmed into the cellular phone by the manufacturer and is generally used to identify a subscriber.
Peter Michaels, Chairman and CEO of Hop-On, commented, "We are definitely pleased with our continued progress. All major phone manufacturers must go through the same process because without unique ESN's, carriers cannot provision phones on networks. Having the numbers now allows us to move forward in finalizing agreements with strategic partners."
The ESN grant was from the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) (http://www.tiaonline.org), the leading trade association serving the communications and information technology industry. Through its worldwide activities, the association facilitates business development opportunities and a competitive market environment. The association provides a market-focused forum for its more than 1,100 member companies that manufacture or supply the products and services used in global communications. TIA represents the communications sector of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA).
Separately, the Company announced that 58% of those polled online indicated they would purchase a disposable cell phone (source: CNN.com/QuickVote). When asked, "Will you buy a disposable cell phone?" 28% replied yes, 30% replied only in certain circumstances and 42% replied no. "Since receiving FCC approval the level of unsolicited inquiries has increased exponentially," added Michaels. "Consumers, investors and potential partners are excited by the proposition of adding mobility to the multi-billion dollar phone card market and making cell phones an affordable option for teens, travelers, Glove Box users and those with questionable credit."
