I have no idea how the Fed is going to inject liquidity. Lowering marin requirements for banks might encourage banks to lend, but I doubt it based on my recent conevrsations with lending officers. I think if the Fed cuts rates they may be able to buy a little more time and get 1 more round of mortgage refinancing. This would delay a second dip until next year. This adminstration will probably resort to government spending. I would not be surprised to see another attempt at a tax cut. I agree that whatever the Fed or government does will only delay the inevitable.
