I don't know when in history the meteor was supposed to have struck but erosion is the norm in that area so things may have changed. It would have to be before recorded history. Its not a flat desert area. There are some rocky hills nearby. Placed there as a meteor or by angels with big back packs is really not a concern for me in any event. "You're not trying to sell this as miraculous, are you?" Most people either consider it as a yarn or as a miracle. The original eruption of the spring for Ishmael, is considered something of a miracle.
