SALES OF PRILOSECr (LOSECr ) IN THE U.S. UP 28 PERCENT
DURING THE FIRST HALF OF 1997
Total sales of Prilosec (Losec) in the U.S. through Astra Merck, Inc. during the period January - June 1997 amounted to
USD 1,015 (1996: 790) m., an increase of 28 percent,
corresponding to approximately SEK 7,600 (5,300) m. Growth in total prescriptions during the corresponding period is estimated to have exceeded 30 percent.
During the second quarter, sales of Prilosec amounted to USD 500 (375) m, an increase of 33 percent.
Sales of Plendilr through Astra Merck during the first half of 1997 amounted to USD 55 (45) m., corresponding to approximately SEK 400 (300) m.
Astra Merck is owned in equal parts (50/50) by Astra and the U.S. pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc. Half of Astra Merck's sales are included in the Astra Group's sales.
