I'll believe that when I read about the discovery of a large impact crater in the Mecca area. A rock that size hitting at the velocity that could be expected of a meteor is going to do a lot of damage.

Recent isotopic analysis with a rubidium spectrometer has revealed the rock to be fossilized camel-dung put there by Norm Goldstein. It was just a silly prank at the time but it turned out to have some real advantages for trade. Of course the real give away was the sign that said "Look - God sends a rock" beside it...
