actually, my wife works in the suburbs, specifically Oakland county, the third wealthiest in the country on some basis (I forget which, maybe per capita in excess of some population threshold). this is a very affluent area that is slowing down, although my $179k example was from a blue collar neighborhood in Macomb county, the next county over. However, the fact that the blue collar area is slowing down is telling...the lower-end areas have been holding up better than others across the country. if that's cracking then things are starting to unravel.
