I hope you and the dogs have recovered from your recent visitation.

Personal information has been brought up a lot during these discussions. Most of us do not solicit personal information. We disclose what we want to disclose to the people we get to know, and we know or should know, that it could always be used against us. And other people disclose to us what they wish to disclose. Sometimes people actually foist confidences upon others. I know people have told me things that were TMI (too much information). What are you supposed to do about that? In general I don't tell other people personal facts told to me, but I think I have every right to disclose whatever I want to. If people want me to keep my mouth shut, they shouldn't tell me anything. I have turned off my PM's to aid people in not telling me anything (so I can control somewhat who can and cannot PM me). But people who disclose things to others, that they would not feel comfortable having made public, are crazy (imo). Would I LIKE everything I've said to my best friend made public (for example)? No. But would it make me distraught? Would it make me think she was criminal? No.

We are all responsible for the secrets we disclose about ourselves. We give up control over our self-information by disclosing secrets, blaming other people for that loss of control is silly. IMO. What we really regret is our own bad judgment in telling the other person- which of course is uncomfortable to direct at ourselves. Much better to find another object.
