Ted the problem is with both people's prejudices and affirmative action.

The difference is the affirmative action is institutionalized bias/predjudice/racism, which is worse then just attitudes held by individuals or even prejudiced decisions by individuals.

And you know what.........you get rid of Affirm. Action and let things go back the way they were, and
my guess is this country will have racially motivated civil disturbances within say 20 years. After all, the
race riots of the 60's helped prompt the passage of these laws in the first place


The response to the riots in the 60s was equal opportunity laws, which while I think are wrong in principle (when applied to the private sector), I agree had a calming effect on racial tensions and help reduced the level of discrimination that minorities face in the US. Affirmative actions laws are even worse in principle, and don't have the positive practical effect to make up for that fact.
