| They are a rock band, more specifically progressive rock, but like VH1 I would consider those things likely to get airplay on Top 40 together, indiscriminately. The list is respectable, but I have a lot of disagreements. Sergeant Pepper is probably the best all- around Beatles album, for example, followed by Abbey Road. Talking Book is the best Stevie Wonder album. Joni Mitchell's Blue belongs in the top 5, probably one or two. The Velvet Underground and Nico belongs in the top ten. Born to Run certainly belongs in the top 20, and perhaps the top 10. Bookends is a better album than Bridge over Troubled Water. The Man Who Sold the World is the best David Bowie album, and probably should be in the top ten. The Pretenders are much to low on the list, they should at least make the top 20. Some of the albums I am not acquainted with, some just don't belong on the top 100. Some omissions are scandalous, for example, Neil Young, especially "After the Gold Rush"; The Band, "Music From Big Pink"; The Mama's and the Papa's, "Monday, Monday"; Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's "Jesus Christ Superstar"; and Cat Steven's "Tea for the Tillerman"..... |
