You do have a way of changing the subject in these discussions, Hawk. I have no comment on any discussion of good and bad Al Qaeda. I wouldn't know how to make such distinctions.

As for the rest of your post, the key thing, so far as I can tell, is the link between Al Qaeda and Saddam. The evidence in The New Yorker story and in those other stories as to such a link was weak to none, unless you've seen something I have not. I don't see anything in this post that offers any evidence on that score.

As for some of the rest of that post, I did not realize you and I were discussing whether to let some great world religion "fall under the tyranny of extremists." I know you were talking about the Muslim faith, but there are extremists in Protestantism, Catholicism, and Judaism. Does that mean you don't wish any of them to "fall under the tyranny of extremists." I gather you are extremely bothered by brother Fallwell and Robertson, by the Israelis who see the West Bank as god's grant to them, and by these folk:
