IDT Ships Its One Millionth Integrated Communications Processor

Company Recognized as the Dominant Supplier of Processor Technology to the Managed Layer-2 Ethernet Switch Market

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 2002-- IDT® (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.)(Nasdaq:IDTI - News), a leading communications IC company, today furthered its commitment to the communications sector through the shipment of its one millionth integrated communications processor. This milestone was achieved in less than two years from the time of the first device introduction, and demonstrates the industry's acceptance of IDT's integrated communications processors as products that deliver an unprecedented combination of system performance, flexibility and integration.

IDT is firmly entrenched as the leading provider of integrated communications processors to the managed Layer-2 Ethernet switch market segment. Specifically, the company's RC32332 and RC32334 devices are shipping in products from three of the top four vendors of Ethernet switches. According to the Dell'Oro Group, a Redwood City, Calif.-based market research firm, the combination of shipments from the top four vendors accounted for approximately 84 percent of the total market share of the worldwide Layer-2 switched Ethernet market for the first quarter of 2002. In addition to its leadership in the managed Layer-2 area, IDT's integrated communications processors are being deployed within a series of other enterprise applications, including wireless access points, gateways and virtual private networks (VPNs).

IDT has partnered with a number of third-party vendors, including Broadcom, Wind River Systems and Jungo Software Technologies, that provide complementary, compelling hardware and software technology to IDT's integrated communications processor family. These relationships have enabled the release of turnkey system solutions for Ethernet switching platforms, ADSL modems/routers and integrated access devices (IADs) that significantly improve its customers' time to market. IDT plans to release additional system solutions over the coming months that address other Enterprise applications.

"In a short period of time, the market acceptance and success of IDT's integrated communications processors has been astonishing," said Phil Bourekas, vice president of IDT's Internetworking Products Division. "Achieving this milestone is a proof point to IDT's ongoing investment into its overall design initiatives, and the strength of its partnerships with other market leaders, resulting in our customers bringing robust, reliable and differentiated solutions to market in a timely manner."
