Actually. the problem for tech companies is that there is a simple answer. Until recently the tech companies had enough political clout to kill off any attempt to make them accountable -- it is pure bs to pitch this as a technical issue -- nothing could be further from the truth. This is simply an issue of whether or not tech companies have sufficient political clout to get a free ride while we all look the other way. At this point it appears that is no longer the case.
