The Bush crowd thinks Death is their friend. You can see the major players are very comfortable with death on any scale, up to and including Ashcroft's Armageddon and Rumsfeld's megadeath calculations. It's simply a political tool - the "Politics of Death". Starting with Texas Suicides, on through threatening the rest of the world with secret mass assassinations of agents of the "axis of evil". Supreme Court Justice Scalia believes it's the God-given right of the State to meet out Death, and that we should worship the State as God's instrument.
