Hill and Knowlton website says the story was for real.

They admit she was the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador, and that this information was withheld for her protection, but also state that she was a volunteer at a local hospital, and further state that similar human rights abuses were documented by the Washington Post, Amnesty International, and the like.
