In the article, today, on INTC's move to a .09u process, the CEO of Broadcom is quoted as saying that INTC is not moving the technology ahead, AMAT is. AMAT, not INTC, and not KLIC!

Exceptional point.

Customers need "more for less". We don't need more chips, but better chips. Thus fabs will buy new etchers for STI and other tools required for 0.09um, 300mm and copper. Why buy a new wirebonder if you can use the old ones with the same pad pitch? I doubt Intel's uP chips are "pad limited" to begin with. Also, If I want to lower my package cost, I'd buy a solder bumper from UTEK and flip the chip over and die attach it direct to the chip carrier and eliminate wirebonds. Wirebonds just hurt performance in MANY applications so it is a technology people have a desire to get away from thus I've never seen a convincing reason to own KLIC.

I did triple up on SFAM at $3.34 and now wonder if I want to own NVLS or just take the gains? I already own AMAT and LRCX which cover much of the space... Does NVLS have anything those others don't? NVLS stock seems to track AMAT well except that it has not fallen below recent support levels as AMAT has done. BOTH are still getting a high premium. I suppose I could take the SFAM gains since I used an IRA as I didn't buy it for the Long Term and sell some taxable AMAT and buy NVLS to take some capital gains to offset some losses in WCOM. Or "get frisky" and keep it all... and hope the recovery does give me a nice boost....

Anyway, I know you like NVLS... why own both NVLS and AMAT?
