I have a neighbor who's family lost everything when the local bank failed. His father owned the bank and had an extensive portfolio of stocks. The were penniless. Dana through his life became successful again and a millionaire. We were talking one day before his death about how he accumulated that wealth. His answer was a surprise.

Hard work, spend less then you earn and invest every month in bonds and interest bearing investments. I said you have to buy stocks to get rich and he told me since the depression he has never owned a stock and he never would. Said the game is a shell game run by dishonest people and he wanted no part of that.

What happens if we get a whole new generation thinking that way?
