Jim, Ever follow AEM, an unhedged Canadian gold. Just found mergers/acquisition possibilities interesting.

First, PDG having a hell of a time try to acquire that Australian miner, Auriongold. Both are hedged players is my understanding.

How about South African golds...I keep reading some comments about government involvement.

So my conclusion. Canadian and Australian mid to small caps a good buy.

Read a comment that Barrick may still be looking at acquisitions. (below)

So I tend to look at GG and AEM...but AEM has a smaller market cap, an easier acquisition. It also took off a couple of days ago..a big move. Made me a bit curious and decided to take up a long in AEM. I realize its earnings are not as good as others like GG but that probably means good gold reserves (a guess on my part); that is what a ABX type would probably be looking for as a way to decrease the significance of its hedges.
